Students born after January 1. 1984 who qualified themselves in the category A are eligible to participate in the competition.
In order to apply in the category A students have to submit their youtube performance (at least 15 minutes but not exceeding 25 minutes with 2 different style pieces) in their online application form. The preliminary judges will choose base on their youtube performance 36 participants in the category A.
Previous winners of the festival are no more eligible for the competition.
Phase II
Students in the category A will perform in the Promising Star Concerts during the period of the festival.
The performance in the Promising Star Concerts will also be their competition. The repertoire is free of choice however not exceeding 15 minutes.
Competition Rules:
The competition order will be determined from the festival.
If we encounter bad weather for example typhoon or other special reasons, the festival has the right to change the competition date and time.
The jury panel has the right to give extra prizes.
The jury decision will be final.
No one can video or tape record during the festival, unless it is approved from the festival.
Festival has the right to use the footage of the participants performances.
Competition participants automatically agree to all the rules by taken part in the competition.
Competition Award
The winner will be awarded an engagement of concerto performance with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra.
The Prizewinner Performance will be held in 2020/2021 season.
The winner can discuss with the conductor about the concerto choices and perform all movements of the chosen piece at the prizewinner concert.
The festival doesn't award extra cash prize to the winner, yet if the winner doesn't reside in Taiwan, the festival will provide travel and accommodation to the winner for the prizewinner concert.
Competition Process
Students in the category A can choose whether to attend the competition in their online application form.
The 5 Promising Star Concerts performed from the students in the category A will be judged from our Faculty as their Star Concert Pianist Competition.
At the closing ceremony, we will announce the winner of the 2019 International Maestro Piano Festival.
